At the market: Upscale leather seating specialist Bradington-Young is expanding beyond its traditional roots of nail head treatments, rolled arms, tufted tailoring and traditional heavy browns to feature more urban, clean and transitional designs. In response to consumer requests for cleaner lines and lighter leathers, Bradington-Young is broadening its line by featuring more fashionable and modern designs and styles. Most notably, comfort is paramount in each new frame.
 | | B-Y Ranaze sofa | Today's consumers and marketplace seem to favor clean designs and a simpler lifestyle. Consumers who have had traditionally styled rooms are now taking a more contemporary approach to their conventionally decorated homes, in an attempt to create a relaxing and clutter-free, uncomplicated environment. According to David Hicks, national sales manager for Bradington-Young, "The industry has seen growth in the transitional arena, and therefore, there is a tremendous opportunity to capitalize on this interest."
 | | B-Y Castellon sofa | Bradington-Young is introducing a number of transitional groups this market, all of which consist of a sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman. Several complementary recliners have been developed as well. In addition, two transitional sectionals are being introduced. A majority of the transitional frames will be displayed in lighter color leathers and will be of sleeker styles. These new groups also will feature deeper seats and will sit lower to the floor.
In addition, Bradington-Young is introducing a motion sectional program, entitled "Motion Seating by Design," which will offer sectionals and groups with full reclining individual seats on each end with an inside handle release. Bradington-Young has had great success with its existing "Sectional Seating by Design" program, and thus felt the offering of motion seating would provide additional value and comfort.
