International Home Furnishings Market, High Point, N.C., Spring 2009: Now you can integrate your iPods to your home theater systems, thanks to iPod docking stations built into four new entertainment units introduced by Hooker Furniture here.
 | | Roatan Entertainment Console (217-70-474) and Piers (217-70-450) | "This is a feature our customers have been asking for, and we finally found a source that is licensed with Apple," said Hank Long, senior vice president-merchandising and design. "The advantage is that if Apple technology changes, the modular insert with dock can be exchanged for the new Apple technology by the consumer, so the piece of furniture does not become obsolete. All docks are covered by matching wood grommets that give the furniture a finished look when the device is not being used."
 | | Roatan iPod Station | The docking stations, are located on the surface of the entertainment consoles, in a convenient location to hook up with the sound system in doors below. The stations have 12' RCA jack cables and a USB port function for docking with computers, and eventually video function. The iPod is charged while in use in the dock.
The docking stations are available on two of Hooker's wall units, including Kinston, a casual transitional console and hutch and wall unit in bamboo veneers and hardwood solids with a two tone color palette of black and brown. The other wall unit offering the docking station is Avondale, a console and hutch with pier units in hardwood solids and cherry veneers in a medium clear cherry finish accented by ebony rub through on some moldings.
In addition, the docking station is offered on the Roatan entertainment center for 60 inch monitors in hardwood solids, ash veneers and woven rattan and brushed nickel hardware, as well as on a traditional cherry entertainment console with Bombay front and side doors for speakers and media storage taking 60 inch monitors.
