Like the lawyer or accountant who turns their back on their college training to a career as an artist or chef, I went back to my passion. I was always creating as a child, whether that be drawing or building with girders or Lego blocks- space, design, and art was my in my future. So from molecular biology (with art history in between), off to retail it was!
My retail emphasis has always been in high-end retail merchandising and design. Early roots include merchandising for a prominent department store in Florida and then to a twelve year career in custom clothing, designing and selling custom suits and shirts. My next venture with Williams Sonoma was in management and as a district visual display specialist. All of this has brought me back to my passion for space, color, and design, and to Walter E. Smithe.
My favorite design trend is global inspiration. Utilizing an eclectic mixture of pattern and texture will bring your room to life. From the use of warm leathers to brilliant pops of color in geometric, ikat, or Suzanne patterns, your room will be sophisticated, inviting, and a haven in which you can retreat!
