Teresa, originally from the Mid-West, has worked in the home furnishings industry since 1997. She became an interior designer in 2005 and joined the Paul Schatz team in 2006.

Where did you receive training? Do you have any degrees or certifications in this field? After graduating from Portland State University's School of Business and many years of retail management, I craved creativity. I focused my passion for furniture, fabrics, and people into studying interior design. I've enhanced my design skills through the Portland Community College Interior Design program and continue to stay on top of the latest trends through design workshops, product training seminars, and trade and shelter magazines.

Where do you gather inspiration? My inspiration for each individual space can come from anywhere. Sometimes it can be my client's favorite place to visit, their grandma's antique, or a special piece of art.

What are your main influences? What is your design philosophy? I really enjoy getting to know my clients… how do they live? How will they operate in the space? What’s going to work best for them? I utilize my years of home decorating experience to provide the best design for them. I tailor each design to my client's specific needs and wants.

What do you love most about designing? Working with my clients on an individual basis, getting to know who they are and how I can best fulfill their needs.

What has been your favorite project to date? One of my favorite projects is a home on the coast; the rooms are unusual shapes. It was a challenge but it came out fabulous.

What are your favorite rooms to work on? Bedrooms. I believe your bedroom is a key space of your personality. It should be your ultimate haven of relaxation.

What makes Paul Schatz special? Why should people come here for their furnishings? We are a local, family-oriented business. We believe in providing the customer sophisticated service without the pressure.
